Writer’s Profile

I have loved reading and writing for as long as I can remember. I’ve always seen myself as someone who would write about thoughts that could be shared; found at a library or book store. Even before I could spell and link words together, I made marks on paper that I was sure meant something. A book given to me by a family friend is evidence of my early love of written communication. Words I recognized are circled or have a box around them. I added crayon marks, underlined sentences, and drew random shapes; the only marks I knew at age four or five. The second thing I always envisioned for myself was motherhood. I have three children who challenge my patience on a daily basis, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. They force me out of my comfort zone of introverted activities and allow me to experience the world in new and scary ways. Compiling my three blogs onto one site is one of the ways I am challenging myself as I expand my world of writing and parenting. In addition to this new blog site, I am currently working on three manuscripts: Book #1 – “A Place for Infants” is a resource book for parents, teachers, and managers who want to make sure Child Care Environments for Infants are safe, clean, nurturing, and responsive to the developmental needs of babies. My over 20 years of experience working with children Birth – Age 3 provides the foundation for the information I hope to share with families. Book #2 – “490 and Counting ~ As the Sparks Fly Upward” is the working title for a book based on real events. It is a tale of forgiveness, courage, faith, and how the main character reinvents herself to create the life she knows is best for her children. Along the way she discovers that even though plans must change to accommodate a new way of life, she can still find fulfillment and heal the wounds of the past. Book #3 – “Absence of Truth” is a novel set in Galveston, Texas and begins with the main character struggling to accept the end of a long term relationship. A mysterious stranger arrives as a hurricane brews in the Gulf and threatens to pull our main character into a storm that is much more dangerous than anything the city has ever experienced. I look forward to sharing excerpts from each of the books as they progress. Being responsible for three “Human Children” will always take front seat. So incubation of my three “Literary Babies” has been at a snail’s pace. But I’m o.k. with that. I’m in good company when it comes to writers taking their time to complete a novel. I hope you will join me as I take on this adventure.
